News from the Deptartment

First up, congratulations to Christian Brady, who has won a GSS cIRcle Award for his podcast, Prometheus Bound. For those who don’t know,

“cIRcle is the University of British Columbia’s digital repository for research and teaching materials created by the UBC community and its partners. Materials in cIRcle are openly accessible to anyone on the web, and will be preserved for future generations.”

Congrats, Christian!

And Chelsea Gardner, UBC PhD student and the one who initiated our digitization project, is spending this year at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. While there, she’s been keeping us updated on her adventures with her blog, Wild Beneath the Skies. Check out her stunning photos!

And finally, a test site of our digital squeeze collection is up and can be accessed here. At the moment it’s only six squeezes, and images only, but we plan to have transliterations of the texts available when the site goes live. Please check it out and share your feedback, let us know what information and features you’d like to have available for this resource.
